Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Deep Field Foundry (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) collects when you visit this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who visits, whether or not you sign in.
1. Who we are
Deep Field Foundry is a literary portfolio site. Some content is free to preview; full pieces are available as downloads, and some downloads require an active Patreon membership at the required tier. You can reach us at deepfieldfoundry@gmail.com with any question about this policy or your data.
2. Information we collect
Account and membership information, if you sign in. Signing in uses Patreon’s own login (OAuth) — we never see or store your Patreon password. When you sign in, Patreon shares with us:
- your Patreon display name and the email address associated with your Patreon account;
- your current membership/pledge status and tier for this creator’s Patreon page, so the site knows what you’re entitled to download.
We store this information, plus a WordPress account record and login session cookie, so you don’t have to re-authenticate on every visit. We re-check your membership status periodically so access stays accurate if your pledge changes or lapses.
We do not collect or store payment information. All billing — card numbers, charges, receipts, cancellations, refunds — happens entirely on Patreon’s platform. This site never receives or holds your payment details.
Automatically collected technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider’s servers log standard technical data for security and troubleshooting purposes — for example, IP address, browser type, and pages requested. We don’t use this to build advertising profiles.
Information you provide directly. If you email us, submit writing for consideration as a guest contributor, or otherwise contact us, we keep what you send us in order to respond and, if applicable, to publish the submitted work as described in our Terms of Service.
3. Cookies
We use cookies for the basics: keeping you signed in and remembering your session. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as a normal part of serving the font file, per Google’s privacy policy.
4. How we use your information
- to determine which pieces and downloads you’re entitled to access, based on your Patreon membership tier;
- to keep you signed in between visits;
- to respond to questions, submissions, or support requests you send us;
- to keep the site secure and working correctly.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Who we share information with
Patreon is the only third party your information routinely passes through, and only because Patreon is how you sign in and how membership is verified — Patreon’s own handling of your data is governed by the Patreon Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the site, our users, or others.
6. How long we keep your information
We retain account and membership information for as long as your account exists on this site. If you’d like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at the email above and we’ll remove it, except where we’re required to keep records for legal reasons.
7. Your choices
You can stop using this site’s sign-in at any time by not authorizing it, and you can manage or cancel your Patreon membership directly through Patreon. You can ask us, at any time, to tell you what information we hold about you or to delete it.
8. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
